Last week of our FRESHFIT Fall Series was dedicated to hydration and the intentional nourishment of our minds, bodies and souls.This week, we'll continue on in this "breath" of complete nourishment as we focus our intention on BREATHING!

Wellness Challenge #3

This week is all about intentional BREATHING. To breathe is our birthright. Physiologically, every organ system within our bodies relies on Oxygen that our breath provides: from your immune system to your brain. Being mindful of our breath will not only elevate your body’s function, but will elevate your mental and spiritual health, too! This week, we’re becoming more aware of living in the present moment, grounding down within ourselves, and relieving stress!

Your Challenge: BOX BREATH!

  • This deep breathing exercise is great for establishing your inner calm and reducing high stress, so do this in the morning to help set the tone for your day and whenever you feel stressed or overwhelmed, come back to this technique.  

  • To start: Sitting upright, slowly exhale through your mouth to release all the stale air from your lungs.

  • Now follow the breathing pattern of the box above for FOUR cycles.

  1. Inhale deeply through your nose for a count of 4

  2. Hold your breath for a count of 4

  3. Exhale deeply through your mouth for a count of 4 (release all the air in your lungs and tummy 

  4. Hold your breath again for a count of 4, and repeat.

  5. Repeat this process as many times as you need.

  • Practice this technique everyday this week and let us know if you can feel the difference!
